For a young metropolis like Singapore that was under British colonial rule almost half a century ago, there is great satisfaction seeing structures of modern steel and glass today rising amongst the dignified early architectures that are still standing strong.
We had a “photo trip” recently and it was this contrast that we planned to capture while prowling the central business district (CBD) that night. As these buildings attempt to blend into modernization it is easy to forget the times they have stood through, but without this history, there would never have been this future.
